A total of 19 VOD services contributed an audiovisual fee to the Polish Institute of Film Arts (PISF) in the fourth quarter of 2020.
This, according to Presserwis, was five more than the previous quarter.
It adds that the so-called ‘Netflix tax’ was introduced in July 2020 and requires on demand services to contribute 1.5% of their revenues to the Polish film industry.
The latter received PLN4.9 million (€1.09 million) in Q4, with the contributors including Netflix, Amazon, HBO, Google, Cyfrowy Polsat, Canal+ Polska, HBO, Orange, TVP and VIMN.
Amazon and VIMN were two of the five providers who contributed for the first time in the fourth quarter.
