Telekom Austria holds steady in challenging year

February 10, 2021 11.01 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Telekom Austria’s pay-TV subscriber total in the CEE markets it is present in was barely changed at the end of 2020 compared to a year earlier.

In Bulgaria, according to the company’s latest set of results, it had 540,500 as of the end of December, up from 530,500 in December.

Meanwhile, in Croatia the total fell slightly from 235,100 in 2019 to 232,700 in 2020. A small fall (from 386,300 to 381,900) was also seen in Belarus, while in Slovenia the total rose from 69,000 to 76,900. In Macedonia, the total fell from 132,200 to 130,900.

All told, Telekom Austria ended 2020 with a total of 1,362,900 pay-TV in its CEE markets (the only one in which it does not have a pay-TV business is Serbia), compared to 1,353,100 a year earlier.

In its latest set of results, the company notes that it had total revenues of €4,549 million in 2020, down 0.3% on 2019. EBITDA was €1,576.8 million (+1%) and the net result €388.8 million (+18.7%).
