Lars Riedel new head of TV & entertainment at Vodafone Deutschland

February 9, 2021 12.58 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

Lars Riedel has joined Vodafone Deutschland as the new Head of Consumer Entertainment on February 1, 2021.

“With Lars Riedel, we have gained a proven expert as head of TV and entertainment. He knows the entertainment business and the cable industry inside out, brings a wealth of experience and has a deep understanding of future technologies,” said Andreas Laukenmann, Managing Director Private Customers at Vodafone Deutschland.

Riedel is looking forward to his new occupation: “Many challenges and exciting developments are currently shaping the German TV/video market. Streaming usage is exploding and consumption on mobile devices is steadily increasing. As the largest provider of TV and entertainment in Germany, Vodafone has one of the leading platforms for bundling TV, video and catch-up content with GigaTV. Combined with its fast fixed and mobile access, Vodafone is ideally positioned to offer a convergent entertainment platform for the whole family across all networks in the future, integrating streaming and classic TV even more closely and further strengthening Vodafone’s entertainment offering.”

Previously, Riedel worked at Swiss telecommunications company Sunrise from 2011 to 2021, where headed the TV division for several years. Before that, the 39-year-old spent several years at Unitymedia Kabel BW as manager responsible for the TV and video-on-demand offering. Riedel began his career in the TV business in 2006 at Eutelsat KabelKiosk and with the founding of his own TV channel for video art.
