NOS opts for Media Distillery

February 2, 2021 10.47 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Portugal’s leading cable operator NOS has selected Media Distillery’s Deep Content Understanding technology to enhance the user experience and customer engagement of its video platform.

By doing so, it has created a “linear on demand viewer experience”.

Media Distillery’s Deep Content Understanding technology can analyse video content to determine relevant topics, events or specific time markers, all in real-time and cloud-based. NOS implemented Media Distillery’s product EPG Correction on its 70 most popular TV channels to provide automatic adjustments to update the actual start time of TV programmes as they are broadcast, so consumers can enjoy their favourite video content instantly.
Implementing EPG Correction results in a consistent, smooth experience across all channels, regardless of the broadcast source. Moreover, NOS is using the product to insert pre-roll advertisements in its replay platform.

Commenting on the development, Joao Ferreira, director of innovation services at NOS, said: “With a rapid increasing usage of our replay platform, we strive to offer our customers the most enhanced service possible.

“Thanks to the Media Distillery technology, NOS is now confident to offer to our customers a supreme user experience which will lead to an increased customer engagement. We look forward to continuing to innovate with Media Distillery”.

Roland Sars, CEO at Media Distillery, added: “We are proud to partner with NOS to build a more compelling replay environment in which consumers can navigate programmes with an ultimate user experience.

“Our goal is to let consumers discover relevant content in the shortest time possible, and we are confident that our technology will increase the customer satisfaction of NOS’ customers”.
