Spain’s telecom and audiovisual markets had revenues of €5,778 million in the third quarter of 2020.
This, according to the latest data published by the regulator CNMC, was 3.8% less than in the same period in 2019.
All services posted lower figures with the exception of broadband, was grew by 3.2% year-on-year. The three main operators Movistar, Vodafone and Orange accounted for 76.7% of revenues in Q3 2020, while Masmovil and Euskaltel saw their shares of the total grow to 8.8% and 2.2% of the total respectively.
Meanwhile, the total number of NGA accesses exceeded 70 million, or 14.5% more than a year earlier, and accesses on which services were provided totalled 13.7 million, or 10.4% more than a year earlier.
As of September 30,2020, 71.4% of all broadband lines were fibre and of the 15.8 million fixed broadband connections, 13.5 million had contracted speeds of 30 Mbps or higher, with 95% of these being 100 Mbps or higher.
CNMC also notes that the total number of quadruple or quintuple packages grew to 12.6 million compared to the previous quarter.
Pay-TV take-up continued to grow, with almost 8 million homes receiving services. Of these, 4.8 million were IPTV, or 168,000 more than a year earlier.
