AlphaNetworks designs new UI for Toonami Max

January 25, 2021 12.58 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Belgian developer AlphaNetworks has been selected by WarnerMedia to manage its Toonami Max SVOD service.

AlphaNetworks will manage both the back-end and front-end of the application that is already available to Orange subscribers.

The user interface design has been created in Alpha Networks’ HXperience. The design studio offers white label front-end applications that can customised to brand guidelines.

“The dexterity and responsiveness of the Content Animation feature by Alpha Networks makes it easier and faster to interact with subscribers, by allowing them to choose the content that suits them while delivering it with a pleasant and ergonomic design,” says Bertrand Schontz, Director of distribution and operations for the French-speaking territories, Israel & Africa at WarnerMedia Networks.

Toonami offers a catalogue of 400 titles the best of DC animated series and films (Batman, Superman, Young Justice) and Marvel (Spiderman and Ironman), the Super-Heroines (Harley Quinn, Wonder Woman), Japanese animated series (Dragon Ball Super, My Hero Academia) and also wrestling superpowers with the AEW League.

As part of the process for creating a new look to Toonami Max, a prerequisite for WarnerMedia was to get an easy-to-use back-office tool for the operational teams to handle content publications and animation.

“Alpha Networks provides a powerful feature to support editors in their daily job. Content animation is an all-in-one tool, allowing collaborative working, flexible publication of content thanks to accurate preview in editing mode and a vast list of design sets. We aim at becoming the strategic partner of content editors and facilitate the distribution of their services to operators,” says Guillaume Devezeaux, CMO at Alpha Networks.

Content animation is available as a module of tucano back-end. The functionality sits alongside and complements Content Hub, another key module within tucano that enables content aggregation from multiple sources and handles integration with external systems to prepare it for distribution.

Toonami is also available as a linear channel with a related catch-up offering.
