Amazon is partnering with the Indian operator Airtel for the first-ever rollout of of Prime Video Mobile Edition.
The single-user mobile plan has been created especially for ‘mobile-first’ countries such as India. After a 30-day free trial customers will pay 89 rupees for 28 days including 6GB of data. A 28 day pre-pay bundle including Prime Video Mobile Edition, unlimited calls and data access of 1.5 GB per day costs 299 rupees.
The full Amazon Prime Video service including access through Smart TVs and HD/UHD content, Prime Music, Prime Reading and expedited parcel delivery costs 349 rupees.
“India is one of our fastest growing territories in the world with very high engagement rates. Buoyed by this response, we want to double-down by offering our much-loved entertainment content to an even larger base of Indian customers,” said Jay Marine, Vice President, Amazon Prime Video Worldwide. “Given high mobile broadband penetration in the country, the mobile phone has become one of the most widely used streaming devices.”

Airtel users can watch Prime Video on their mobile by choosing from a range of pre-paid bundles. The company also offers mobile broadband, fibre and digital TV services.
