OTT service Megogo loses MGU channels

January 12, 2021 15.56 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Media Group Ukraine (MGU) has failed to reach a carriage agreement with the OTT service Megogo.

As a result, reports Mediasat, MGU’s channels Shakhtar TV, Ukraina, Ukraina 24, NLO, Indigo and Rybalka are no longer being offered to Megogo’s customers.

It adds that some reports say that one of the reasons for the differences between the two parties is that Megogo received the rights to show the Champions League and Europa League from 2021-24. The rights were previously held by MGU for 10 years.

However, MGU denies this is the reason and insists it wants to cooperate with Megogo.

Negotiations between MGU and Megogo are continuing.
