Antik Telecom inks Discovery agreement

January 11, 2021 19.39 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Slovakia’s Antik Telecom has signed a long-term agreement with Discovery that will allow its customers to continue watching the group’s 10 channels.

Discovery content will also be added to Antik’s video rental service. The channels – Discovery Channel HD, Animal Planet HD, TLC, Eurosport 1 HD, Eurosport 2 HD, DTX HD, ID HD, Discovery Science HD, Travel Channel HD and Food Network HD – are available via Antik’s fibre-optic IPTV networks, the public internet on mobile phones, set-top boxes and interactive TVs, as well as the AntikSat service.

Commenting on the agreement, Vlastimil Lakatos, TV services manager Antik Telecom, said: “We look forward to continuing to provide Antik’s clients with attractive channels in the documentary and sports segment, in contrast to the competition.

“A number of records will be part of the offer and documentaries from Discovery production in our video rental Antik Kino. In 2021, we are preparing at least one more attractive novelty with this partner, which I believe will also please our fans”.

Lucie Bayer, senior distribution & business development manager at Discovery CEEMCA, added: “All but one of these channels are in HD quality, with Antik declaring its strategy to bring clients all the attractive content in ultra high definition (UHD / 4K) that will be available on the market. In collaboration with Discovery Inc. this happened, for example, in the case of live broadcasts from the Roland Garros tennis tournament in 2018, which, as the only operator in the Slovak Republic, Antik provided in UHD quality through the Eurosport 4K channel”.
