Free New Years Eve satellite and streaming feed from Times Square

December 27, 2020 13.45 Europe/London By Robert Briel

The Times Square Alliance and Countdown Entertainment are again offering a free feed of Times Square New Year’s Eve content from New York City.

Times Square New Year’s Eve host Jonathan Bennett and street correspondents will provide live, commercial-free, webcast coverage of the festivities leading up to the Ball Drop at midnight.

Singer-songwriter Andra Day will headline the live commercial-free webcast and TV pool feed. She will perform her Grammy Award-nominated single Rise Up, as well as Forever Mine. Day will continue the New Year’s Eve tradition of singing John Lennon’s Imagine just before the Ball Drop Celebration when the world unites to countdown the final seconds to the new year.

The co-organiSers of the event also today announced the official Times Square New Year’s Eve event lineup, which will feature live performances by Gloria Gaynor, Pitbull, Anitta, Jennifer Lopez, Billy Porter, Cyndi Lauper, Jimmie Allen, Machine Gun Kelly, The Waffle Crew, and USO Show Troupe, as well as an array of special activities and appearances that will happen throughout the evening.

The live broadcast is closed to the public, but revelers across the globe will be able to experience the excitement of the Times Square New Year’s Eve celebration at home via the six-hour, live commercial-free webcast, beginning at 6:00pm with the lighting and raising of the New Year’s Eve Ball atop One Times Square.

The webcast will include musical performances by Andra Day, Gloria Gaynor, Anitta, Pitbull, the USO Show Troupe, and The Waffle Crew including the lighting and raising of the New Year’s Eve Ball at 6 pm EST (23:00 GMT), hourly countdowns, special guests and the pushing of the Waterford Crystal button that signals the Ball Drop at midnight.

This clean, uninterrupted feed will be provided free of charge to media organisations around the world on a non-exclusive basis solely for their use in creating television programming relating to the event. Additional information, including a schedule of events and talent, is available here.

The webcast will begin at 6:00 p.m. EST (23:00 GMT) on December 31, 2020 and end at 12:15 am EST (05:15 GMT) on January 1, 2021. The show, which also offers mobile friendly viewing, will be available at TimesSquareNYC.org, TimesSquareBall.net and livestream.com/2021.

Additionally, the event organisers are inviting digital media outlets, bloggers and webmasters to embed the live, commercial-free Times Square 2021 webcast to enhance New Year’s Eve content on their own websites and social media channels.

Please note – the webcast will also be streamed via Facebook Live video at facebook.com/timessquarenyc. Digital media outlets, bloggers and webmasters are invited to share this video stream, crediting Countdown Entertainment/Times Square Alliance.
