Telia Lietuva has turned to the Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania (LVAT) in a dispute with the state-owned Lithuanian Radio and Television Centre (Telecentras).
According Verslo Zinios, it is seeking to determine whether radio frequencies provided to Telecentras without competition for its Mezon subsidiary are legally being transferred to the mobile operator Bite.
Quoting a statement, it adds that Telia believes that state owned assets must be sold in a transparent manner and with fair competition.
Broadband TV News notes that Telecentras has responded strongly to Telia Lietuva’s allegations. In one part of its statement, it says “Telia, which has doubts about the transparency of the process, should also recall some episodes from Telia’s own activities in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and other countries, for which it has been fined billions in fines, loss of reputation and markets, and which it now forgets when it is about its own reputation”.
Bite, which is backed by Providence Equity Partners, is currently in the process of acquiring Mezon in a transaction worth €20 million.
As previously reported by Broadband TV News, Telia Lietuva is seeking to overturn a decision by Lithuania’s Communications Regulatory (CRA) under which frequencies used by the company Mezon are being transferred to Bite.
