TV5Monde selects Wiztivi to further reach

December 17, 2020 10.51 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

TV5Monde has chosen Wiztivi for the development, maintenance and supervision of a multilingual OTT app allowing its audience to access a linear channel in HD with subtitles.

The app is currently available on Samsung Smart TV, Android TV and Amazon Fire TV in Austria, Germany, Greece, Israel, Ireland, Italy, Moldova, Romania, Spain and the UK. Further developments are to be made in 2021, including via set-top boxes of pay-TV operators.

By employing Wiztivi’s flagship user interface product Timeless UI Universe, TVMonde is able to offer access to the European channel in HD, with five subtitles (French, English, Spanish, German, Romanian), replay and on-demand kids’ content under the brand TiVi5monde+. An Arabic version for the Middle East is also under discussion.

Commenting on the development, Thibault Demartial, VP sales at Wiztivi, said: “Wiztivi is delighted to contribute to the deployment of French-speaking language content throughout Europe thanks to these new distribution channels. One of our challenges was to deliver the exact same user experience across all these different environments, and we’re pleased to see how successful the project has turned out to be”.

Diane Couderc, regional director at TV5Monde Europe, added: “Working with Wiztivi was essential for successfully launching our app.

“With Wiztivi’s technology, we got access to first-class streaming and broadcasting expertise, allowing crucial features such as subtitling and geo-blocking functionality to work smoothly on all the different environments. It will allow us to reach out to a new audience and we are very much looking forward to moving on to other technical environments, and other languages such as Arabic”.
