Greece will launch a tender for 5G frequencies this Wednesday, December 16.
Ekathimerini reports that it will be for bandwidth use of 700 MHz, 2 GHz, 3.4-3.8 GHz and 26 GHz, with a similar auction for the 3.7-3.98 GHz auction in multiple rounds having begun in the Us a couple of weeks ago.
All three local mobile operators – Cosmote, Vodafone and Wind – are expected to participate in the Greek tender, It should be completed on the dame day, with the state expected to make €367.3 million from the process.
Greece is projected to have up to 3 million 5G connections by 2025, with revenues in 2025 amounting to some €260 million, or 15% of total mobile revenues.
Population coverage of 5G signals is meanwhile expected to reach 60% in three years and 94% in six years.
