Fox News Media is to launch a new advertising supported weather service.
The platform will make its debut with the Fox Weather App in the third quarter of 2021 alongside an integrated website.The streaming service will feature national updates for the United States and will also feature local and regional updates.
“Weather is a vital component to news and combining our trusted reporters and expert meteorologists from Fox News and FTS nationwide, the Fox Weather products will be built to serve our audiences in a customized fashion. I’m excited to get started as we continue to innovate and build new products from the ground up,” said Sharri Berg, who becomes President of Fox Weather.
Based in New York, Fox Weather will be able to draw on 75 meteorologists across 17 stations.
It will be a rival to The Weather Channel, which launched in 1982, and can be seen in 80 million households across the United States.
