Canal+ has said its received authorisation from the Conseil Supérieur de l’Audiovisuel (CSA) to remain on the French DTT platform TNT for another three years.
Canal was the only candidate for the slot allocated to a pay-TV operator.
The new licence will run through until December 6, 2023.
In a short statement, Canal confirmed that TNT reception is used by less than 5% of its French subscribers, compared to more than 20 million around the world.
Some French departments are believed to have as few as 100 subscribing DTT households.
