A new White Paper produced by Zattoo has demonstrated the successful implementation of HbbTV on an Android TV set-top box.
In partnership with Skyworth Digital, Zattoo has begun offering its TV Platform customers an Android TV Operator Tier certified 4K/UHD Set-top box product. Based on the AmLogic S905X2 chipset, the device offers end users a high performing fully branded TV experience powered by Zattoo’s customer launcher application.
Zattoo says it was important that familiar services, such as Mediathek, were still available to customers transitioning from ‘traditional’ set-top boxes.
The White Paper explains how Zattoo overcame challenges with HbbTV WebView to integrate it with the company’s fragment stack to place multiple fragments on the stack at any one time.
It also tells how the remote control was deployed to ensure customers can enter, and importantly exit, HbbTV apps with ease.
