The Polish public broadcaster TVP aims to launch an English language channel with the working name TVP World in 2021.
Quoting TVP’s president Jacek Kurski, Wirtualne Media adds that it will be aimed at the large number of Poles living outside the country who feel a connection with it but do not speak the Polish language.
Quoting Jaroslaw Sellin, the secretary of state in the Ministry of Culture, National Heritage and Sport, it also says that the channel will be on air for 24 hours daily and show not only what is going on in Poland but Central and Eastern Europe as a whole.
Kurski confirmed that the new channel will be headed by the TVP board member Mateusz Matyszkowicz.
TVP previously announced plans to launch an English language channel named Poland 24 in 2018, but it failed to materialise.
It already operates an internet-only channel named Poland IN that it plans to expand with the addition of live broadcasting and more foreign language programming.
