Virgin Media is launching a new broadband service for customers receiving Universal Credit.
The plan has a fixed price of £15 per month, comes with a speed of 15Mbps. The plan has no fixed-term contract length and no price changes while Universal Credit payments are being received.
The government benefit is designed for working-age people who have a low household income.
Exisiting Virgin Media customers can apply for the plan by completing a form on the cable operator’s website.
“The launch of our Essential broadband service is about supporting customers who are experiencing financial difficulty and uncertainty,” said Jeff Dodds, Chief Operating Officer, Virgin Media. “We all know how important connectivity is right now to our day to day lives, so this reliable, hassle-free service will help people to get online and carry out essential activities.”
Virgin has previously introduced measures including annual bill management and annual package reviews. At the start of the Covid crisis, Virgin revised its packages around kids and entertainment and removed data caps on those broadband plans that still had them.
