Warner Media’s HBO Max is to be available through Amazon’s range of Fire TV devices.
The agreement, announced Monday, adds the potential of some 40 million Fire TV users to the streaming service’s footprint.
Despite not being available through either the Amazon devices or those of rival Roku, HBO Max has already built a subscriber base of 8.2 million.
The hold up is believed to have been down to who would control the user data of subscribers viewing through the Amazon platform.
“Fire TV is a favorite among customers, and we look forward to working with the Amazon team to engage and grow our existing subscriber base by showcasing all that HBO Max has to offer,” said Tony Goncalves, head of sales and distribution, WarnerMedia.
There was no indication as to whether any talks with Roku were ongoing.
HBO Max is available in the United States at $14.99 per month.
