French OTT Molotov has introduced a new version of its service on Panasonic Smart TVs.
Molotov Source TV is aiming to recreate the set-top box experience, while relying on just the Wi-Fi connection. Molotov has moved to a so-called ‘operator application’, which moves its technology closer to that of the smart TV itself.
“We are very pleased to innovate with Panasonic to launch what will be the TV access of tomorrow. With Molotov Source TV, Molotov integrates itself into the heart of smart TVs and allows viewers to free themselves from TV boxes,” said Molotov CMO Olivier Kouvarakis.
End users need to select Molotov as the source when setting up the TV via the IPTV menu.
Its also possible to configure the app through the applications store.
Molotov features include Live Pause and a cloud-based DVR.
Its free version offers access to 34 channels including the entire French DTT line up. A further 170 channels are available on subscription.
