United Group outlines Croatian strategy

November 4, 2020 09.31 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

United Group has renamed its Croatian Tele2 operation Telemach Hrvatska and announced investment of up to €230 million in the company.

Telemach Hrvatska’s mobile network will receive up to €130 million of this total over the next five years, with the investment being focused on expanding network coverage, comprehensively improving the quality of the mobile service and introducing an ultra-fast 5G mobile network starting in 2021. Meanwhile, up to €100 million will be spent on the construction of a state-of-the-art optical network that will provide private and business users with ultra-fast broadband internet at speeds up to 10Gbps.

According to Viktor Pavlinic, president of the management board at Telemach Hrvatska, “With this investment, Telemach Hrvatska will soon enable the best quality of the mobile network and new mobile services together with the best fixed network available in Croatia.

“For our existing and new customers, this means that they will have at their disposal a complete offer of the most advanced services and products with the best quality and experience of use”.

United Group bought Telemach Hrvatska in May 2019. It was the company’s first acquisition since BC Partners became its owner in March of the same year.

Telemach Hrvatska will continue to offer customers products and services under the Tele2 brand and present a new visual identity during the first half of 2021.

Victoriya Boklag, president of the management board of United Group, said: “Our investments show United Group’s commitment to the Croatian market and further strengthening our leadership position in the region.

“Operating simultaneously in the telecommunications and media sectors as well as in e-commerce, our platform unites the leading operators and the best producers of media content in Southeast Europe”.

United Group points out that these investments, which are one of the largest foreign investments in Croatia, will enable Telemach Hrvatska to further strengthen its already strong competitive position in the market and attract new customers, thanks to network quality, interesting offers and top customer support.
