Sky and Mediaset are reportedly in pole position to pick up the remaining rights to screen Champions League football in Italy.
Last week it emerged that Amazon secured the key Wednesday night games in the European football competition for €240 million over the next three seasons.
Now, Reuters reports that the remainder if the matches will be shared between Sky & Mediaset.
The Comcast-owned broadcaster is said to have offered up to €100 million per season for the remaining rights to the Champions League and Europa League. Mediaset will pay up to €50 million to screen Tuesday night Champions League games.
The contracts are expected to be confirmed by UEFA’s marketing agency TEAM Marketing in the next few days.
A separate tender for Europa League is expected to be launched in the New Year. However, Sky will be prevented from entering a bid under the terms of a competition ruling.
