The Slovenian pubcaster RTV Slo’s general director Igor Kadunc has narrowly avoided being dismissed by its Programme Council.
Although 14 its members voted in favour of his sacking and nine against, with six deciding to abstain, the vote was one short of the required majority to pass the motion.
The initiative to dismiss Kadunc was put forward by 13 RTV Slo’s councillors who are convinced that there are legal reasons for such an action. They pointed out that Kadunc had not prepared a programme-production and financial plan that would be acceptable to the programme and supervisory board, which are responsible for their adoption. Namely, RTV Slo has not yet adopted the financial plan for 2020 and is operating according to the 12th financial plan for 2019.
Kadunc rejected all the allegations, saying they were unfounded.
