Half of all internet homes in Spain were already receiving OTT services such as Netflix, HBO and Amazon Prime as of the second quarter of this year.
According to the CNMC Household Panel, the figure of 49.1% was 33% higher than the 37.1% posted in mid-2019.
Five years ago, in mid-2016, only one in ten (10.7%) internet homes were receiving such services.
The regulator CNMC notes that it is important to note that the survey reflects the market situation during the pandemic, with fieldwork being undertaken in May and June.
It also says that the use of video calls and internet calls almost doubled, while daily video viewing grew by 37%.
Online messaging was the service most used by users to communicate, ahead of mobile calls mobile.
