Widevine DRM has announced a new Third Party Licence (3PL) Programme to help scale device integrations and chosen SmartLabs as one of four authorised partners to support the integration.
The new partnership means SmartLabs will be able to conduct independent testing and compliance on behalf of Widevine with immediate effect.
Commenting on development, Gary Hamer, SVP sales and business development at SmartLabs, said: “SmartLabs has been a certified Widevine Integration partner for the past decade. Having been partners of Google for many years, we are really excited about becoming a Widevine 3PL partner and helping product manufacturers to certify devices, speeding up the process so they can get to market faster. This opportunity opens up the connected device market for us and we are already in conversations with device manufacturers who are keen to get on board”.
Brian Baker, senior director and head of Widevine at Google, added: “We are excited to extend our partnership with SmartLabs by onboarding them to our 3PL program. We have a history of working with the SmartLabs team and are satisfied with the quality of engineering expertise the company has, which is essential to support device manufacturers with this integration process”.
