Poland’s Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) has yet to receive an application from Cyfrowy Polsat and Discovery to launch a new joint on demand platform.
Quoting UOKiK’s press office, Presserwis reports that the UOKiK was informed in late August by the European Commission of the plan to launch the platform and that it was in UOKiK’s, rather the Commission’s, hands to make a decision.
However, since then it has heard nothing from Cyfrowy Polsat and Discovery.
The two first announced their plan to launch a joint platform, featuring content from Polsat, TVN and external producers, in October 2019.
Although initially operating on an AVOD basis, it would eventually move to a subscription-based model.
