New landmark for UPC TV

October 15, 2020 12.50 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

UPC TV has passed the milestone of 1 million customers two years after its launch.

Shortly after its introduction at the Tech Summit in the Netherlands, the TV platform made its debut in Switzerland in October 2018. It is now available in the Netherlands, Belgium and Austria, while In Ireland and Great Britain it is still being tested. In Switzerland, there are currently more than 350,000 UPC TV Boxes in Swiss households, more than in any other Liberty Global market.

Commenting on the milestone, UPC CEO Baptiest Coopmans said: “UPC TV has completely eliminated the boundaries between TV, streaming and the various places a user can be, because thanks to the app, anyone can access their favourite channels or films at any time, even offline. In addition to innovative technology, customers receive the full entertainment package with exclusive content such as blockbuster films, popular series or live sports on MySports. The ultrafast UPC Giganet, which is available all over Switzerland, makes UPC TV a success story for high-resolution entertainment in every corner of your home”.

UPC TV includes a superfast set-top box with 4K ultra HD picture quality, a remote control with voice functions, push to TV functionality and the UPC TV App, which makes seamless TV viewing possible everywhere. Customers also receive an extensive TV programme with more than 240 channels, including the MySports One channel which offers exclusive live sports. Netflix, Starzplay, YouTube and Sky are also fully integrated. It is possible to download virtually unlimited films and programmes (2,000 hours) and watch them from anywhere thanks to cloud storage. The offer also includes seven days of Replay and the option for every person in the household to create their own profile.
