Netflix has become the latest streaming service to drop its free trial.
It emerged that the 30-day scheme was dropped earlier this month. The company says it’s now looking at other promotions to market the service.
Last month Netflix launched a new website where it’s possible to sample episodes of its latest shows
This includes episodes of titles including Stranger Things and When They See Us that can be seen on the site without the need to sign up.
The Netflix UK website says that while free trials are not available it is still possible to sign up with “no contracts, no cancellation fees, and no commitments”.
There are concerns that viewers could sign up for a free trial and view exclusive programming, such as the new series of The Crown launching next month, without committing to a subscription.
Disney, which began a free trial at its UK launch in March, withdrew the offer in July, ahead of the launch of Hamilton and Frozen 2.
