Amazon has introduced a new line up of its Echo devices with new designs, enhanced audio and more powerful hardware.
The Echo Show 10 features an ‘intelligent motion’ display that moves with you to enable you can still view your video as you move around a room. For the first time Echo devices will have access to Netflix. Previously movie viewing was restricted to Amazon Prime and in North America, Hulu.
Shortly, it will be possible to ask Alexa for Netflix, with the ability to search, browse, and stream the entire catalogue by voice.
“These are the best Echo devices we have ever made,” said Eric Saarnio, Vice President Amazon Devices EU. “Echo and Echo Dot look beautiful and sound even better, and Echo Show 10 completely reimagines Alexa with a screen—the display moves with you, staying in view as you move around. It’s as natural as having a conversation.”
There is also a new spherical design for both the Echo and Echo Dot. The new echo features a 3.0-inch woofer, dual-firing tweeters, and Dolby processing.
The smaller Echo Dot and Echo Dot with clock have also been redesigned and feature a 1.6-inch front-firing speaker.
Separately, Amazon is adding the Fire TV Stick Lite (UK price £29.99), which is capable of streaming full HD and features HDR support. It comes with the Alexa Voice Remote Lite, a new remote that allows you to use voice to find, launch, and control content.
The regular Fire TV Stick, £39.99, delivers faster streaming in 1080p at 60fps with HDR compatibility.
