Russian telecom operators are likely to earn considerably more from the provision of digital services following the end of the pandemic.
Quoting a report produced by Kearney, Kommersant reports that subscribers in the country currently pay barely €6 a month for entertainment content.
Although this is around half of that even in other parts of Eastern Europe, it is likely to increase to €9 a month post Covid-19.
More generally, Russians’ spending on communications and online services may grow by 31%. In absolute terms, this will be equivalent to an increase of around €7, or R624, per subscriber a month.
Kearney’s survey, undertaken in Q4 2019 and the first quarter of this year, showed that Russian consumers spent around €21 a month on such services.
This compared to €40 and €94 a month in Eastern and Western Europe respectively.
