Poland’s National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) has told Cyfrowy Polsat to respect the must carry rules on its ipla on demand and internet TV services.
Quoting the regulator’s spokesperson Teresa Brykczynska, Presserwis quotes that in the summons it told the company to adjust its OTT offer to meet the requirements of the Broadcasting Act. This requires operators to distribute terrestrial channels (TVP1-3, Polsat, TVN, TV Plus and TV4) that were at one stage broadcast in analogue. At the same time, it also says the channels cannot refuse operators distribution of their services.
KRRiT said in 2013 that online players have to respects the must-carry /must-offer principal if their services reach over 100,000 people.
While Cyfrowy Polsat does not carry any of the seven channels in its OTT offer, its main competitors TVP and TVN include only some. Neither have yet been told by KRRiT to rectify this situation.
