Discovery Deutschland has completed the acquisition of free-to-air channel Tele 5 from Leonine.
The deal was first announced in July 2000 and was granted approval by the relevant authorities on Monday.
Alberto Horta will now take over from Kai Blasberg as managing director of TM-TV GmbH with Blasberg leaving the company.
“Tele 5 was a gift for me. In 15 years, we have created a wonderful company that has always given a little bit of grief, but above all a lot of pleasure. I’m sure the same will be true for Alberto and his team”, says Blasberg.
“Tele 5 is a strong and clearly positioned brand in German free-TV. With its films and series, Tele 5 adds a new fictional component to our existing channel portfolio. added Horta.
The channel will now become a part of the Discovery Deutschland portfolio that also includes DMAX, TLC, Eurosport 1 and Home & Garden TV.
