Sky Arts has gained digital terrestrial capacity as part of its transition to a free-to-air broadcaster.
As of September 17, Sky Arts will be available on Freeview channel 11, where it replaces Pick, Sky’s entertainment channel that came to prominence through its Premier League coverage.
Pick moves to channel 34.
Sky says the prominence given to Sky Arts reflects its ambition to bring more of the arts to more people as a free service.
Sky Arts will also be available on Freesat on channel number 147.
There will also be a programme of activity to support and champion the arts and increase public participation.
While the Sky Arts linear channel will be made free for everyone, the extensive Sky Arts On Demand library of arts content, with more than 2,000 hours of shows, will remain exclusive to Sky and NOW TV entertainment pass customers.
