MEO is claiming to be the first major carrier to deliver its service through both an Apple TV and Android TV device.
The Portuguese operator has this week launched its own Android TV box. Made in Portugal, it was jointly developed by Altice Labs and the engineering and product teams of MEO.
Last year MEO became one of the world’s first operators to offer subscribers an Apple TV box.
“This is further proof of our leadership spirit, we constantly mark the industry and market agenda, surprise everything and everyone by innovating where no one else has innovated,” said Alexandre Fonseca, executive president, Altice Portugal.
The box includes a slate of Android TV features, such as the ability to share content between a smartphone, tablet, or TV and to download content from the Android TV box (such as YouTube 4K, Spotify, TED Talks and Games.
