The Swedish Press, Radio and Television Authority has revoked the terrestrial licences for TV4 Fakta and TV4 Film.
Its after owner TV4 AB chose not to use the capacity.
“Our mission is to work for freedom of expression, diversity and accessibility. The terrestrial network is an important resource in this assignment. It is therefore essential that the licensees really use the frequencies we have given them for television broadcasts,” said Director General Charlotte Ingvar-Nilsson.
The current licence period began on April 1, 2020, with TV4 required to broadcast its channels nationwide by June 1, 2020. However, no transmissions have been initiated.
The regulator will now begin the process of readvertising the licences.
