The European Commission has backed the launch of Streamz, the new Flemish streaming service being prepped for launch by Telenet and DPG Media.
The company will now officially launch on September 1, 2020 with Peter Vindevogel as CEO. Kris Vervaet will serve as chairman of the Streamz Board of Directors, while Kris Vervaet will serve as chairman of the Streamz Board of Directors.
“The launch of Streamz will be a milestone in Flemish media history,” said Vervaet, who is also CEO of DPG Media Belgium.
International and local content will be drawn from commercial channel VTM and Telenet’s Vijver Media channels VIER, VIJF and ZES.
“Streamz will feature local stories with a potential to conquer the world, and international stories that can conquer Flanders,” boasted John Porter, CEO Telenet. “In so doing, we give the viewer more choice than ever, and our Flemish television makers now also have an additional platform on which to showcase their creativity.”
The new company will be based in Vilvoorde.
