German pay-TV operator Sky Deutschland will drop the ‘HD’ suffix from the names of its channels.
“We are removing HD because we now regard ‘HD’ as standard and no longer want to carry it in the names,” a Sky Deutschland spokesman told Broadband TV News, adding that this affects all German Sky channels.
The first to do so is sports news channel Sky Sport News, where the ‘HD’ suffix will be dropped on August 5, 2020. The occasion is the move to a new, more modern studio, which will take place on that day.
After three months of renovation, the studio offers more mobility and flexibility, according to the broadcaster. The presenters will no longer just sit at a table in the middle of the studio, but will also be able to use a high table and benches. There is also a large LED touch screen.
The channel’s graphic design has also been revised. The new design of Sky Sport News in Germany is based on the visual appearance in the UK and Italy, enabling Sky to offer its sports news channels in a uniform design.
