Russia’s four DTH platforms had a combined total of 16.5 million subscribers at the end of the first quarter.
According a study published by ComNews, the market leader Tricolor increased its base by 0.6% in the year to 12.23 million.
However, the fastest growth was seen by MTS, which had over 900,000 subscribers as of Q1, while NTV-Plus ended the quarter with 1.1 million subscribers.
Orion, which operates under the Telekarta brand, saw its subscriber total fall by 2.8% to 3.093 million.
Looking more specifically at the platforms, MTS in fact gained 50,000 more DTH subscribers in the first half of this year than in the corresponding period in 2019.
Meanwhile, MTS ended 2019 with a total of almost 4 million cable, DTH, IPTV and OTT subscribers.
Those receiving DTH services increased by 28.7% to 853,000, and in H1 2020 it gained a further 54,000.
