Telefónica has said it will “make the greatest effort to promote the complete digitalisation of Spain”.
In what it terms its “Digital Deal”, it has committed to ensuring that by 2025 fibre optics will cover 100% of the country, and that it will be a leader in the implementation of 5G technology.
The unveiling of the Digital Deal has come alongside the release of the company’s latest set of results. These show that it had revenues of €10,340 million in Q2, down 14.8% on a year earlier. Its OIBDA was €3,315 million (-23.5%) ad net income €425 million (-50.7%).
In its home market, Telefónica gained 22,000 pay-TV subscribers in Q2. Growth was driven by Movistar+ Lite and the return of football.
