3SS and Hoppr join forces for Android TV monetisation

July 30, 2020 10.22 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

German software solutions provider 3 Screen Solutions (3SS) and Australian advertising technology company Hoppr have teamed up to create an end-to-end monetisation platform for Android TV.

The partners have integrated the 3Ready Custom Launcher with HopprTV to enable new possibilities for advertising and to unlock potential for marketing and promotion within the Android TV experience.

Hoppr delivers addressable TV advertising with its ad and promotion serving and playout system that can create and insert overlays on TV and video services. The 3SS 3Ready Custom Launcher complements this capability via enabling a high level of targeting, including real-time understanding of the user’s current context – what kind of content is being viewed (such as sports, news, etc.) by whom, and on which device.

As a result of this collaboration, operators benefit from new revenue streams while users enjoy more harmonious viewing with ads and promotions that are relevant, personalised, and unobtrusive, according to the companies. In parallel, advertisers can measure the performance of their marketing investments and brand engagement to reach audiences who are more likely to accept and understand their sales messages. This targeted solution also reduces repetitive ads.

“Android TV offers myriad revenue opportunities, with scope far beyond core subscription revenues; advertising and promotion both have huge potential which is, to date, largely untapped,” said Pierre Donath, chief product officer at 3SS.

Through HopprTV’s technology, overlay ads and promos can be created in various formats, both video and non-video. These can be designed to be subtle, with customisable shapes, and can display on top of any application in an Android TV service user interface (UI), on connected TV sets or on any other multiscreen device. Ads, download prompts and other promotions, for example, can appear almost anywhere in the UI, such the home-screen or synopsis screen, and can take the form of pre-, mid-, and post-roll.

“With the HopprTV and 3Ready solution, the advertiser, agency and, most importantly, the service provider, all have the opportunity to realise maximum business value from an Android TV-based service. Meanwhile, subscribers enjoy entertainment with seamless, personal and relevant ads and offers,” said Cyril Daoud, CEO of HopprTV.
