Jacek Kurski is effectively back in charge at the Polish public broadcaster TVP.
In a statement, TVP said: “In connection with the vacation starting on 27/07/2020 of the provisional president of the management board of TVP, Mr. Maciej Lopinski, and his resignation from the temporary performance of the duties of the president of the Management Board on 07.08.2020, the performance of the duties of the president of the management board of TVP was entrusted to Mr. Jacek Kurski”.
However, local reports say that the National Media Council (RMN) has been left confused by the statement as it has the power to appoint or dismiss the head of TVP and was not informed of any candidacy for the role.
As previously reported by Broadband TV News, Kurski was dismissed from the post by the RMN earlier this year.
