Dori Media to acquire Sony’s 50% stake in Dori TLV

July 23, 2020 22.03 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Dori MediaDori Media Group will acquire Sony Pictures Television’s 50% stake in Dori TLV.

The deal represents an opportunity for Dori Media to consolidate its control of the business unit following SPT’s decision to exit the business.

Dori TLV owns and operates two daily drama channels, Viva and Viva Plus carried by all Israeli multi-channel platforms and a third, new one, launched in April, Viva Vintage, which is carried by the two main platforms, HOT and YES. Dori also operates an AVOD service, offering daily dramas.

Dori TLV is also a prominent provider of Electronic Program Guide (EPG) services to platforms in Israel.

Dori TLV also owns Dori Media OT, a technical services arm, offering subtitling, dubbing, video and audio editing and format conversions. Dori Media Ot is one of the largest of its kind in Israel and has served such clients as Netflix, Disney, Sony Pictures, and many other broadcasters and production companies in Israel and around the globe.

Nadav Palti, CEO & President of Dori Media Group, commented: “We are grateful to Sony Pictures Television for the partnership during the past six years. The market is constantly changing and we all change accordingly. We are confident that our partnership with Sony and the excellent relationship we have built over a number of years will lead to more ventures in the future.”

John Rossiter, EVP, Distribution & Networks CEEMA Sony Picture Television, added:”We have enjoyed a productive partnership with Dori Media over the years and greatly appreciate their commitment to the business. We trust that our successful relationship will present new opportunities to align our mutual interests in the future.”

Sony acquired its stake in Dori TLV in 2014.
