The Corona crisis has led to Germans buying more TV sets in the first half of 2020.
Sales figures rose by 5% year-on-year to almost 3.2 million units, according to the latest market figures published by German industry association gfu Consumer & Home Electronics. Due to the stable average price of €562 (-1%), a revenue growth of 4% to almost €1.8 billion was achieved.
According to gfu, the main reason for the positive development were the sales after the end of the lockdown in May (number of units and sales +37% each) and June (number of units +21%, sales +24%).
For the full year 2020, the association expects the German consumer electronics industry to increase its revenues by around 4% to almost €29 billion.
