YouTube TV has increased the monthly subscription fee on its streaming TV service.
The new monthly price of $64.99 is a $15 uplift on the previous rate. It will apply to new subscribers immediately and existing subscribers as they reach their next payment on or after July 30.
YouTube TV debuted in 2018 with a $5 monthly fee and a mission to take on cable services.
It features channel brands including PBS, Discovery, HGTV and Food Network.
New channels from ViacomCBS have now been added: BET, CMT, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, TV Land and VH1. Premium channels Cinemax and HBO Max were recently added taking the total to over 85.
To soften the blow a number of new features have been added that allows subscribers to jump to various segments within news programmes on YouTube TV. It’s similar to a feature already available to sports fans.
There is also a new look to the TV Guide and the ability to scroll seven days ahead, a show can now be marked as ‘watched’ and there is also a new Dark Mode.
