Ahead of the recommencement of the Formula 1 season in Austria on July 5, Sky Italia has renewed its contract to broadcast the sport for another two years.
The current contract was due to come to an end at the conclusion of the 2020 season.
Sky is planning 30 hours of coverage of each race weekend, including qualifying, and up to 18 races planned – the complete schedule is still being finalised. The Italian Grand Prix will also be shown on the free-to-air channel TV8.
“We are happy to remain a point of reference for all motor enthusiasts,” said Marzio Perrelli, executive vice president, Sky Sport . “We went through a moment of medical emergency with due concern but always looking to the future with optimism.”
Sky is also anticipating 17 rounds of the MotoGP and 12 rounds of the Superbike championships that will be screened on its Sky Sport F1 and Sky Sport MotoGP channels.
