Ukrainian TV channels use outdated frequencies in the range 690-822 MHz.
This, reports Mediasat, quoting the country’s Ministry of Digitisation, creates interference as these frequencies are also used by European telcos.
It adds that to solve this Europe has proposed the signing of the Regional radio Frequency Spectrum Agreement (RSA) by Ukraine, as well as Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia and Moldova.
Although this is supported by Ukraine, the cost of changing the frequencies used by TV channels in the country is likely to be around UAH240 million (€7.94 million).
