The number of fixed broadband subscribers in Moldova grew by 1.2% to 678,400 in the first quarter.
At the same time, according to data published by the regulator ANRCETI, revenues in the sector amounted to MDL341.4 million (€17.3 million), or 2.4% more than in the same period last year.
ANRCETI notes that growth was driven by coaxial cable and FTTx connections, which increased by 3.5% to just over 56,000 and 1.8% to over 460,000 respectively. At the same time, the number of fixed broadband subscribers connected to xDSL networks fell by 1.5% to 160,600 and other technologies by 0.6% to 1,700.
The penetration of fixed broadband services per 100 inhabitants increased by 0.3 percentage points to 25.3% and ARPU by 4.6%, compared to the previous year, to MDL168.7.
Moldtelecom was the leading provider of fixed broadband services in terms of turnover, with a market share of 62%. It was followed by StarNet Solutii (21%), Orange Moldova (7%) and other providers (10%).
