MultiChoice is to add both Netflix and Amazon Prime Video for its subscribers.
The pan-African satellite service is also planning to launch its own standalone service.
MultiChoice, which already runs the VOD platform Showmax, will debut DStv dishless, based on its DStv service.
“As our industry evolves, we believe that we are well positioned to benefit from both worlds – a large, growing pay-TV market in Africa, as well as an emerging over-the-top (OTT) opportunity, where our own OTT services and aggregation capabilities can drive success,” said Calvo Mawela, Chief Executive Office, Multichoice.
Last week MultiChoice announced it had added 900,000 DStv and GOtv subscribers, taking its overall total to 19.5 million.
