Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has held a teleconference with the government and leading telcos to discuss measures to support and develop the industry.
ComNews reports that in the meeting Mikhail Oseevsky, the president of Rostelecom, said that although his company was likely to see a decrease in revenues by a few percentage points this year, it did not need financial and tax support measures.
However, he asked for systemic structural problems, such as simplifying access to apartment buildings and providing new buildings with fibre optics. He also spoke about the need to develop data processing centres and improving legislation governing remote work.
President Putin meanwhile said it was necessary to consistently develop the legal and regulatory framework; to remove barriers to launch and support promising IT projects; and all proposals voiced by representatives of the industry voiced in the meeting to be worked out by the government.
Other companies present in the meeting included VimpelCom and MegaFon.
