Discovery inks key CEE partnership

June 2, 2020 11.09 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

T-Mobile Czech Republic, Slovak Telekom and Digi Slovakia have entered into a strategic partnership with Discovery.

It is aimed at bringing viewers special educational content available on demand and Eurosport 4K, in addition to the premium content on Eurosport 1, Eurosport 2, Discovery Channel, TLC, Travel Channel, Animal Planet, Fine Living, Investigation Discovery, Discovery Science, Discovery Turbo Xtra.

Commenting on the development, Lucie Bayer, senior manager, distribution and business development Discovery CEEMCA, said: “We are really excited to expand our strategic partnership with T-Mobile Czech Republic, Slovak Telekom and Digi Slovakia. It’s a time when people need quality content more than ever and we’re happy with the huge range of popular content and many major sporting events that are coming up again on our channels. With the addition of Discovery’s learning collection available on demand, we provide nourishment for the curious minds – by bringing well-known Discovery faces from Mythbusters to The Irwins, covering Engineering, Science, Kid’s Cooking Competitions to the Science of the First Moon Landing. Moreover, by launching Eurosport 4K on the Czech and Slovak markets, we will be able to satisfy the increased demand of our viewers for premium content available at premium quality. Our expanded partnership with T-Mobile, Slovak Telekom and Digi Slovakia is a clear proof of the value that we are bringing to viewers. At the same time, it marks a huge leap further for our local development and I think there are many more great news coming for our fans in the Czech Republic and Slovakia regarding our Discovery portfolio”.

Andrej Miklánek, head of TV content at Slovak Telekom and T-Mobile Czech Republic, added: “As the leading multimedia provider in Slovakia and the fastest growing TV player in the Czech Republic we are happy to offer our customers the opportunity to watch a variety of exclusive and original documentaries, lifestyle shows, movies and, of course, a very strong sport content on Eurosport channels. We are looking forward to further cooperation, including strong new educative Video on Demand content and Eurosport 4K”.
